Leading in Development (LID) Academy is a training company under Raluco Projects and is a 100% black owned business, focused on developmental interventions within Rural and Township areas which is in line with national government’s imperatives on poverty alleviation, job creation and food security operating in Gauteng, North West, Limpopo and Kwa-Zulu Natal.

This involves developing an organizational training needs analysis to determine outcomes of learning agricultural skill development in selected areas. Delegates are trained to conduct skills development sales, administration, financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Our Workplace Partner

Our students are provided with 3 months work experience at the farm going through the 21 days piggery and 45 days poultry animal. They get to learn about the breading, farm management and the science behind the animal production. List of farms:

How It works

Learning Guide

  • Self-study via Google Classroom.
  • Requires a Gmail email address.
  • Requires access to a computer/laptop/smartphone.
  • Requires internet connection & data.
  • Google Classroom will be used for the distribution and submission of your learning material workbooks, and assignments.
  • Learners will receive 2 x Learner Guides and 2 accompanying
  • Workbooks monthly. In most instances, you will have 1 month to complete and submit both these workbooks.
  • This course will require hard work and dedication. Learner competence is assessed via workbooks, assignments, and completed logbooks.
  • Learners must have access to a suitable environment or agricultural business for workplace experience.
  • It is the learner’s own responsibility to source an adequate practical site (workplace).
  • Please ask us for your course’s specific practical requirements.
  • Learners who do not have access to a practical site can gain some work experience at our LID Academy farm (conditions apply).
  • Examples of practical sites include Agri-trade companies, abattoirs, fishing, forestry, various farms, agricultural packing and distribution, and animal health companies.
  • PoE support sessions can be arranged with our office. Learners can arrange these sessions if additional support is needed.
  • There is continued e-mail support for all learners.

Learners looking for a practical site should keep the below in mind. We recommend a combination of the following:

  1. Learners will visit a verified LID Academy-approved workplace training company where they are exposed to live workplace environments that will provide workplaces approved legit workplace experience where they will work on a set time depending on the qualification.
  2. Learners will be able to go through the production process for animal or plant projects (piggery, poultry, aquaculture, hydroponics, herb growing, beekeeping, aquaponics, etc.). These projects will serve as practical and students will keep logbooks on their projects. Must meet minimum requirements which will be combined with a more traditional agricultural environment/workplace.
  3. Learners can get involved in Agricultural Community Projects, exposed to agricultural industry and sectors
  • All National Certificate and National Diploma learners must complete a logbook to keep a record of their practical experience.
  • It is essential that you start your logbook as soon as you start your course. The logbook also functions as your attendance register.
  • Logbooks are completed daily. This includes time spent on theoretical modules, indicating the unit standard that was done during that week.
  • As adult learners, it is your responsibility to keep your logbook up to date and to get the necessary person/s to sign it off. Uncompleted logbooks will prevent you from getting your diploma.
  • The person signing off your logbook must have good agricultural knowledge. This could be your mentor, supervisor, or boss.
  • National Certificate learners must log 7 months (minimum) of practicals during the 1-year course.
  • National Diploma learners must log 12 months (minimum) of practicals during the 2-year course.
